Two of your five a day

What do tomatoes and carrots have in common? They can both be re-grown from left overs and scraps! True - the tomatoes you see in the following photos are not scraps... I'm investing my tomatoes for more interest!

I literally just chopped the tomatoes and buried them in some soil and compost and covered with some plastic to act as a greenhouse. Once I saw seedlings, I removed the plastic. It was as easy as that!! Keep them on a sunny windowsill and keep the soil moist and they will grow big and strong in no time!

With the carrots, I just popped the end cut offs in a tray, half submerged in water. Once the tops started to sprout and little roots started to appear on the bottom, I buried them in some soil and compost... and waited.

Stay tuned to see if the carrots actually grow into more carrots!! If the tomato plant continue to grow at this rate, we will be eating home grown, juicy tomatoes in no time!
